CONSOCIATIONALISM VERSUS SOCIAL AND POLITICAL CLEAVAGES: EXAMPLE OF BELGIAN POLICY

Yevheniya Tykhomyrova, Taras Myshlyayev

Abstract

Formation of the political system of Belgium takes place under the influence of numerous factors. One of such factors is the existence of socio-political cleavages in Belgian society. These cleavages cause significant splitting of the Belgian political area. But at the same time, multi-level and plural nature of political relations in Belgium are characterized by the presence of consensus and numerous compromises within the process of policy implementation.
